Here at the Great National South Court Hotel, we are deeply committed to creating a sustainable and eco-friendly environment for our staff and guests. In line with our commitment to environmental stewardship, we strive to minimise the hotel’s carbon footprint by adopting innovative measures to enhance our energy efficiency, minimise waste and conserve water resources without compromising the comfort of our guests.

To stay current with sustainability trends and practices, we actively seek out eco-friendly alternatives for appliances, fixtures and fittings, making environmentally conscious choices whenever possible.

We are proud to share some of the key sustainability initiatives implemented by our hotel:

• Installation of energy-efficient, aerated showerheads in all of our 124 guest rooms, resulting in reduced water consumption and lower heating costs.
• Placement of tent cards in all bathrooms, encouraging guests to reuse towels and minimise laundry-related resource consumption.
• Implementation of urinal flush control systems in public restrooms, leading to savings of up to 80% on metered water usage.
• Adoption of e-invoices to minimise paper consumption and promote digital record-keeping.
• Implementation of a comprehensive waste segregation system to decrease the volume of waste sent to landfills.
• Adoption of the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle – to manage resources consumed by our business in a more sustainable manner.
• Regular servicing and evaluation of major plant equipment to ensure optimal energy efficiency and performance.
• Use of bulk purchasing practices to minimise packaging waste and reduce transportation costs.
• Sourcing locally produced meat, fish and vegetables to support regional farmers and reduce the environmental impact of transportation.
• Active support of local enterprises by prioritising local procurement, advertising in community newspapers and promoting regional events, attractions and businesses to our guests.
